There is plenty of art and culture along the North Sea Trail. The most-visited museums are usually the ones featuring art, history and objects unique to Norway’s traditions and culture. The Petroleum Museum, museum of art, canning museum, homestead museum, museum of childhood – there’s something for all ages and tastes here! Below, you can read about a selection of museums.
VESTAGDERMUSEUM LISTA AT NORDBERG FORT
Lista has a long, fascinating and varied history. Vest-Agder Lista museum conveys this history through numerous exhibitions, collections and facilities. Open daily during the season; treasure hunts and children's activities; café and a lovely place for a walk.

KRISTIANSAND CANNON MUSEUM
You visit the world’s second-largest cannon at Møvig. It is 26 m long, with a range that could reach almost halfway to Denmark.

EGERSUND FAYANCE MUSEUM
The museum is located in central Egersund. A museum associated with the production of AS Egersunds Fayancefabriks Co (1847–1979). The heritage museum with its sections featuring crafts and agriculture, officials and peasant culture.
JÆRMUSEET VITENGARDEN
Discover, participate and explore the 2009 Museum of the Year! The museum building and knowledge centre with fascinating, unusual architecture. Here, you can participate in interactive experiments with a focus on technology and landscape, building traditions, livestock and much more besides. Visit the animals and jump in the hay on the 4H farm.

UTSTEIN ABBEY
Utstein Abbey is the only remaining medieval abbey in Norway, situated in exquisite surroundings on Mosterøy, in Rennesøy Municipality. Utstein appears in historical sources as early as the 11th century, as a royal estate of Harald Fairhair after the Battle of Hafrsfjord in the year 872.

WAR HISTORICAL MUSEUM
During the Second World War, the airport made Sola a strategic hub. The museum shows us various objects associated with life during the war, providing insights into what life was like for the local populace as well as military personnel.

NORWEGIAN PETROLEUM MUSEUM
The Norwegian Petroleum Museum is a museum for everyone. The exhibits explain how petroleum and gas occur, how they are produced and what these resources are used for.

KARMSUND CIVIC MUSEUM
The exhibition on the theme of “the town that went ashore” illustrates the history of Haugesund with models, a time line, tableaux and film clips. Permanent heritage exhibitions.
