Haraldshaugen - Norway's national monument

Snorre sagas mention the place where Harald lies buried. In the last century it was thought that it could be proven which mound was described by Snorre. And over this mound The National Monument to the Norwegian Collection was erected in 1872, on the thousand year anniversary of Norway being united into one kingdom.

The National Monument Harald Haugen was erected in memory of Harald Fairhair collection of Norway. It is located in Gard, 2 km north of downtown Haugesund in a place where Harald is said to have been buried.
